Indra, the ruler of Swarga and of Devtas, got a bit worried about Lord Kartikeya, Lord Shiva’s son. He thought Bhagwan Kartikeya might take over his throne. So, Indra Dev cooked up a plan. He sent a nymph named Devsena to distract Lord Kartikeya from his duty of protecting the southern lands from demons.
Devsena, pretending to be a local, spun a story and settled in Kartikeya’s kingdom. As time passed, she fell genuinely in love with the brave deity.
When she confessed her feelings, Kartikeya was respectful but firm. When he learned about Indra’s involvement, Lord Kartikeya, full of anger, turned down Devsena’s proposal.
Indra, seeing the depth of Devsena’s love, asked Kartikeya to marry her. Then Lord Brahma, the creator, stepped in, revealing that Devsena was his daughter transformed into a nymph due to past actions.
With the truth out, Kartikeya, driven by duty and honor, married Devsena. This divine union mixed love and destiny, showing the intricate threads woven by cosmic forces.
However, Lord Kartikeya’s story doesn’t end there. He also found love with Valli, a beautiful hunter princess. Unlike Devasena, Valli wasn’t born into royalty or divinity. She was a simple yet fierce woman who captured Kartikeya’s heart through her devotion and love for nature.
Their marriage symbolized the importance of personal connection and love beyond societal norms. Together, they represented the harmony between divine power and earthly innocence.
